In Intertwined I & II, Jennine has used the ‘non finis’ technique to create immense drama; like Rodin, whose work seems to be trying to break out of the stone fromwhich it is carved, she allows her figures to emerge almost organically from a rough-hewn base as if they are growing out of the earth and reaching onwards and upwards while still inextricably linked. The classic juxtaposition of smooth and textured surfaces amongst Jennine’s beautifully rendered forms gives these distinctive works an extra layer of sensory aesthetics, as they are as stimulating to the touch as to the sight.
